No man is an Island

“No Man is an Island” John Donne

(I think this is the film About a Boy too) 

This quote has been on my mind recently… For me, it simply means no one thrives alone. You are not an island, you are part of the main land, connected to others and part of a bigger chunk of life.

It also suggests you can always ask for help of others. This has all become hugely apparent to me since having a baby. I’ve been overwhelmed by people’s kindness since bringing this little pickle into the world. People have sent messages, presents, cards, flowers, food and help without me even asking for it! I’m constantly amazed how many mothers have reached out and shared advice and comfort as I figure out how to care for this tiny, vulnerable, beauty.

I’m definitely not feeling like an island.
